Protections and Alerts for the Holidays


The holiday season is here again! That means travel, friends, family, and gifts, but it also means it’s time to brush up on all the travel and purchase protections you have as a Passumpsic Bank customer.

1. Feel safe with fraud detection and alerts

To help prevent identity theft, your debit card has enhanced fraud detection to flag suspicious purchases (like abnormal spending patterns or purchases made in unfamiliar locations). If a flag is raised, we’ll block the purchase and contact you for verification.

We recommend enrolling in text alerts at Passumpsic Bank. Without texting enabled, we’ll still warn you of fraudulent activity by phone, email, and/or letter, but that may result in an interruption of your debit card access. 

If you’re traveling, we also recommend sharing your itinerary. This way our fraud detection system won’t flag any purchases you make in new locations. To share your plans, you can use the Card Feature of your mobile banking app, call us at 1-800-370-3196, or visit your local branch.

2. Easily lock your missing or stolen cards

If you lose your debit card, suspect it’s been stolen, or notice purchases that weren’t made by you, don’t worry! You can lock the card in the mobile banking app to prevent further use. A replacement card can be ordered by contacting us at 1-800-370-3196.

3. Use your phone’s digital wallet with confidence

Many people love the convenience of their phone’s digital wallet (such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay), and we have good news. It’s safe! Add your debit card to your phone’s digital wallet, and make purchases wherever they’re accepted. Your card number isn’t stored on the device, and its information is encrypted for extra protection.
